I first trace the  pattern onto the gourd, then using a miniture jigsaw I rough cut  the gourd, I then scrape the  inside of the gourd clean.

I use an  X-acto Knife to carve the detail into the gourd

I burn the pattern into the gourd then using either oil pastels, which I perfer, inks or water color I color the gourd

Finally I coat the gourd with a polyurethane finish to help protect the art work.  I now have a finished gourd.
